Made to Last: a compendium of artisans, trades and projects features artisans from all around the world who are making useful, heirloom quality objects that will stand the test of time. There are 50 of them in the book, from 18 different countries. Some are practising a trade that has been their family’s lifeblood for centuries; others have determinedly read and watched and trialled and errored, and taught themselves.

Their work fits into an emerging social movement that rallies against mass-produced, disposable goods, and encourages consumers to choose carefully and treasure and really care for their everyday items.

Each maker’s story gives an insight into a creative life, and comes with a DIY project for reader to try at home.
